AbraxSys announced today the release of a new line of ultra-rugged 19″ lcd monitors and panel PCs integrated with Multi-Touch Projected Capacitive (PCAP) Touch Technology. This new technology can is supported for the following AbraxSys product lines:

The new PCAP systems are designed, manufactured, and supported in the USA. The new PCAP touch sensors are constructed as an all glass solution and provide extreme durability and superior optics, especially in direct sunlight. AbraxSys’ Projected Capacitive Touch Screens consist of two ITO/Glass circuits and an Optically Clear Adhesive that is used to optically bond the two circuits together. This lens is also optically bonded to the sensor layers to achieve high light transmission and low reflectance. A touch event occurs when a finger, conductive stylus, or even a gloved hand interferes with the electric field projected above the surface. This change in capacitance is detected by the controller which interprets the X and Y coordinates of the event. Multiple fingers can be tracked simultaneously and the controller supports common multi-touch gestures. The touch sensor has been extensively tested with consistent and reliable interaction with a heavy work-goved hand.
